Differences between VIP and first class bus in Thailand

VIP bus or first class, 500 Baht or 600 Baht (Bangkok to Chiang Mai), what does it mean and what do you get?

What do you get?

First class:

  • 36 seats upper level and 10 seats for lower level. Which means plenty of legroom and 4 seats by row.
  • The service is excellent with 4 employees on the bus (2 drivers and 2 waiters) .
  • Welcome snack and drinks served.
  • Blanket available
  • In bus toilet
  • 1 complimentary meal
  • Wet towel
  • Small water bottle

VIP:

  • Here is the big deal, you get very large seats with only 3 seats per row, 30 seats upper level and 6 lower
  • The service is excellent with 4 employees on the bus (2 drivers and 2 waiters) .
  • Snack and drinks served.
  • Travel pillow and blanket
  • In bus toilet
  • 1 complimentary meal
  • Wet towel
  • Small water bottle

Basically it’s same same but different, the service is a bit better and you get huge seats with the VIP bus.

VIP Extra bacon?

For 800 something baht on the same route (Chiang Mai to Bangkok), I had a little more.

  • In seat screen with games and movies
  • Good headphone
  • You eat in the VIP zone, all you can eat buffet style
