Arriving in Chiang Mai bus station
From the bus terminal to your hotel
You can easily get a map of Chiang mai inside the bus terminal. Take it to help you show your destination to the driver.
A Taxi will drive you to the old city for a flat rate of 150 Baht. For a bigger taxi (minivan) expect to pay an extra.
Tuktuks are in my opinion the worst you get for what you pay.
Song Taew is the public transportation in Chiang Mai. It’s a red pick-up truck with two benches. You will see it everywhere in town. Just like Tuk-Tuk they are waiting in the station’s parking. For better result, walk away from the station and catch one further. Even if the driver doesn’t speak English, they usually understand Ta Phae gate. It’s a central enough location with many hotels and guesthouses around. Or search your accommodation online. The song thaew fare varies from 20 Baht to 50 Baht, the price is per passenger.
Inside the terminal
Chiang Mai bus terminal 3
First when you enter the station, on your right you have all the ticket booths to Bangkok. I’ve made the trip Chiang Mai to Bangkok many times and the buses are very similar from different companies. The change is more when you upgrade to VIP buses or choose a different class. On your left you have the Green Bus company, excellent when you do your visa run to Mae Sai. In the same spot the Phetprasert company serves Isaan destinations.
Internet and WiFi
When you are in total need of travellikeaboss.com and need an internet connection walk upstairs to the internet cafe. They have coins operated computer and also sells WiFi access.
